Synopsis of short film




Alyse and Devon are your average couple, they are deeply in love with each other. Everything they do, they do it together. Weather it be eating out, walking through the park, just your average couple things. Their long relationship has hit the rails though a few months in.
   Alyse isn’t her usual self any more. Something isn’t right. She keeps checking her phone like her life depended on it., she isn’t as loving towards Devon as she once was. Maybe the sparks of love have fizzled out between them?  This behaviour carries on for some time, most unsuspecting of Devon to only notice near the very end.
    This behaviour has carried on for a few months now. Devon’s suspicions becoming more and more heightened, until one day. On the off chance that Alyse leaves her phone, it’s Devon’s chance to finally find out what has cause Alyse to almost fall out of love. What he finds is shocking…
      His suspicions become real when he sees the contents of his ‘girlfriend’s’ phone. Flushed with anger, he isn’t thinking straight and devices a well thought out plan. A plan that would let him get away with murder, if you know what I mean.

Script- first draft

INT. POLICE STATION- DUSK The station is rife with people, arrests being made and files being transported around to various desks Laced around the place. People working off benches and holding cells bursting. In a singular office, we see CRUZ, scruffy looking shirt and detective badge hanging around his neck, a cigar in his mouth, staring into the window of the offIce. He seems to be thinking things over. He looks over to the desk, seeing the piles upon piles of cases. DELILAH comes storming in the office, pushing through the door of the office. Problems I can encounter creating the screenplay

One particular problem that comes to the forefront of the screenplay is the genre of the film. With the film being a film noir, the characters in the storyboard may be dressed appropriately, but he location will look too modern for my liking. One way I could is this problem would be to change the genre to Neo noir, like ‘Blade Runner’. Another problem i have faced is with the script is the inclusion of the typical conventions of film noir, for example a voice over of the trouble protagonist. i have used a femme fatale and described shots to be with typical dark and wet weather, however the most challenging part of the script was to include a voiceover. A reason for this would be that I am finding it hard to include such a thing. The voice over is there to provide extra information for the passive audiences, however, being an active viewer, personally I’d like to use the voiceover in a way that allows the audience to be able to see the inner thoughts and feelings of the protagonist.
