Script update

DELILAH pushes away from the embrace slowly, clearly not wanting to end the moment. She slowly looks up, mascara starting to run down her Blushing cheeks. DELILAH Shoot out, his office got raided... Cops suspect the... Mafia... She suddenly thrusts back into CRUZ’s chest, sobbing louder this time. CRUZ comforts her some more, resting his head on top of hers, briefly enjoying the moment when SUSAN barges through. SUSAN is holding a lot of files, glasses slipping down her nose and hair in a mess from rushing around constantly foR CRUZ. SUSAN scurries towards the desk trying to look for space when the files in her hands fall to the floor. Huffing She bends down to the pick up her files. SUSAN Cruz, I’m so sorry, these just need an arrest report. Where do you need them? CRUZ moves out of DELILAH’s embrace to help SUSAN pick up her files. CRUZ Susan, it’s fine. Leave them over there and I‘ll try to get them done by the end of the week. CRUZ and SUSAN finish picking up t

Problems I can encounter creating the screenplay

One particular problem that comes to the forefront of the screenplay is the genre of the film. With the film being a film noir, the characters in the storyboard may be dressed appropriately, but he location will look too modern for my liking. One way I could is this problem would be to change the genre to Neo noir, like ‘Blade Runner’. Another problem i have faced is with the script is the inclusion of the typical conventions of film noir, for example a voice over of the trouble protagonist. i have used a femme fatale and described shots to be with typical dark and wet weather, however the most challenging part of the script was to include a voiceover. A reason for this would be that I am finding it hard to include such a thing. The voice over is there to provide extra information for the passive audiences, however, being an active viewer, personally I’d like to use the voiceover in a way that allows the audience to be able to see the inner thoughts and feelings of the protagonist.

Storyboard shot ideas

One particular shot I would like to use a tracking shot, similar to that of  the short film ‘Elephant’. The idea of the tracking of ordinary people travelling about their daily lives fits perfectly within my story. The shot will be used when detective Cruz is walking the streets of the city, going towards his crime scene. In the film ‘connect’, the film uses low level lighting. With my screenplay being based around the noir genre, the use of low level lighting would be ideal, due to it being such a convention of film noir. The low level lighting should also bring a certain atmosphere around the whole film, being mystery and suspenseful, another convention of film noir. ‘High maintenance’ is also another film that uses shots of low level lighting, particularly within the dinner scene. this too created an atmosphere of mystery, as the audience were almost thrown into the deep end with the story of the couple having dinner. This atmosphere would also be ideal for my film, as it would a

HE SEEMS TO BE THINKING ABOUT SOMETHING THAT SEEMS TO WRACKING HIS BRAINS. HE LOOKS OVER TO THE DESK, SEEING THE PILES UPON PILES OF CASES. DELILAH comes storming in the office, pushing the through the door of the office. DELILAH (Panting) Cruz! I need your help, you’re the only one I can trust right now! DELILAH goes straight to the whiskey decanter in the bottom drawer of CRUZ’s desk, pulls out two glasses, proceeds to pour for the two of them CRUZ, startled by the entrance of DELILAH, puts his cigar down into the ash tray and takes the glass from DELILAH, carefully sipping the liquor. CRUZ Delilah, Its been a while... DELILAH downs the
